I have been very quiet here on my blog and that has been for two reasons. One, I’ve been tired and simply not finding the time to think and write. And secondly, we’ve had poor internet connections which has made it very frustrating trying to upload something. But things seem to be working this morning so I’ll send a quick hello, and a reminder to all who read my blog to think about how you can be intentional this coming year.
After something that was mentioned at church on Sunday I’ve been thinking: Do my goals reflect that I am a child of God?
This doesn’t mean I am off to be a missionary, or get into ‘full time ministry’ – but rather asks the question does the fact that I have a relationship with God affect how I am a wife, a mother, a homemaker, a friend? Does it affect the way that I do life?
Tonight we have a party with some family friends and a part of that will be a time of thanksgiving as we all reflect back and think about something we are thankful for. This is a great way to step forward into the new year.
Over the coming weeks we’ll be thinking about the direction of our family and the personal goals and opportunities facing each of us. Last weekend, my weekly newsletter talked about setting goals – which I prefer to setting resolutions. You can read this newsletter here: What’s Next. After I wrote the newsletter I created a chart that has helped me start the brainstorming process. I’d like to share this chart with you – and will be sharing it with my kids in the coming week. The idea is that you think about your life from various perspectives – this will either trigger random thoughts that may have been otherwise hidden or there will be a particular thread that keeps popping up – that is something you certainly need to take notice of.
Please take this idea and tweak it as your own – I have purposefully uploaded a word document for you so you can type into it and change it to various categories that suit you and your family. Though if you prefer to download a pdf it is here as well.
