Today’s topic for 5 minute Friday: Race
Life is not a race. A race is a competition. You train for a race. You win a race ahead of others. Life is not a race.
There is no competition. I am to do the best with what God has put in my hand. I have people running alongside of me, encouraging me, supporting me – but not competing against me. It’s not about me being better than them, or them being better than me. We are in this life together – but it isn’t a race.
There is no training for this life – this is it. We will make mistakes, we will learn along the way. We can strengthen our muscles, our skills, but we are living life as we go. We can’t stop living life to learn something – it happens whether we are ready or not!
The one thing that makes life like a race though is that there is a prize at the end. The prize I want so badly is for my God to say – well done, you good and faithful servant – enter into your rest! For this to happen I need to live my life not as a race against my friend or neighbour, but I need to live to please my Lord.
A quote that has been around our house the last month or so – and I don’t know where it has come from – The approval of the Lord matters more than the applause of man.
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..
