Welcome to Live life with your Kids!
Live life with your Kids comes with the message that parenting is about relationships with our kids, about teaching and training the heart, about using the whole of life to teach character, wisdom and life skills to our kids.
Live life with your kids is phrase that describes family life – and that is the heart of my blog.
Family is the place where we grow as strong individuals, and yet know a sense of belonging and purpose with others. It is a place where each individual grows and flourishes in their own created uniqueness.
I have been blogging for over ten years now. It started as a place for me to process what I was learning about homeschooling, but it didn’t take long for me to understand that homeschooling is just a tool – the important thing in raising my family was to be a heart focused parent.
And this is the encouragement I want to leave you with – our job as parent is to teach, train, guide and encourage the whole child: the spiritual, moral, emotional, social, intellectual and physical.
Behind the Blog
Hi – I’m Belinda. It is hard to introduce yourself without listing what you do first – we are more than what we do – we are who we are. I am me – I love Jesus, I love my family. I am a creative person who loves homemaking, scrapbooking, sewing and having friends over. I find rest in quiet and when I’m being creative. I enjoy reading (though between parenting and the internet I find my reading attention span has slipped!!) I enjoy being outdoors (though don’t do it nearly enough). I like the idea of gardening but watching a movie is more likely to win out.
I have four kids who are now mostly grown up – or well and truly on their way. We are all-but finished homeschooling (one to go) and though that brings a sense of change into my life, I find that parenting with relationships isn’t over – we still have plenty of conversations, at all times of the day, about all sorts of things. Being available for my family, and helping my kids in their endeavours still takes up a lot of my time.
Meet my family…
I am married to Peter. We live on a farm in the far north of Western Australia. Peter is a large animal Vet and flies across a huge distance to service the cattle stations in the north.
We have four children (Joshua 24, Jessica 22, Naomi 20, Daniel 18): We homeschool, we get involved in the Christian community, as well as the community at large. As a family we enjoy playing board games, having parties, watching movies and camping (though don’t do it enough). We all love reading and making things and most of us enjoy social media. Our favourite family time is Sunday breakfast where we try and have meaningful conversations though they often get distracted by funny one-liners from movies the kids have seen. If you were to talk to Pete and I you would find that our passion is about families (both the natural family and the family of God). Our deepest desire is for these two identities to be functioning as God has intended – with peace, harmony, and impact on the world around them.
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.
Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
I’m so glad you are here. I hope that you will find something amongst the many pages of this blog that will encourage your heart, that will give you ideas, that will give you hope as you intentionally live life.

There have been times in my parenting journey (which includes our homeschooling) that I have not known what to do. It may have been a behaviour issue that I was bamboozled by, it may have been an academic need I did not know how to provide for, it may have been a...
Our children need to have confidence in who they are if they are to step out and be all that God has made them be. They need confidence in talking to other people, they need confidence to try new things, they need confidence to solve problems and think creatively,...
Even when we try and reduce our busyness and stay at home more we still find ourselves in the car often. This time can be wasted time or it can be used to our fullest advantage. When Peter and I were engaged I had yet to meet his folks so we took an all day drive up...
Our homes, unless we are very deliberate about it, are easily swept up in the fast-pace lifestyle of modern living. We have every modern time saving convenience and yet we rush rush rush, running out of time regardless of what activity we are engaged in. When we see...
There are times in our homeschooling journey where mum get’s tired, not just the tired from a need of sleep but a bone-weary, lost my joy weary. This happens in every profession, every career. But the answer isn’t always about changing our job – as a homeschool mum...
Over the last 6 months or so I have been organising a Mum Heart Conference on the western side of Australia. Those who have been here with me at Live life with your Kids for a while, know that I have supported the Mum Heart conferences over east since they began in...
