It’s been a while since I’ve shared what we’ve been doing: I’ve been in semi-holiday mode with my brother and his family here. They leave tomorrow so we’ve been updating our photo stashes which makes for a good time for me to share some of our times together.
Phil and I have experimented with the campoven. We’ve had several successful meals: oxtail soup, beef stew, kangaroo tail stew and dumplings, apricot chicken, damper, pineapple cobbler and bread.
At local Zebra Rock cafe, a favourite thing to do is feed the catfish – the dog seems to toss between thinking he is a catfish and wanting them to be his playmates!
With everyone’s study and work schedules sometimes dinner time is the only time we get together
farm tour: after watching a video on how the sandalwood tree grows we went onsite to see and touch real trees
an iconic Kununurra site – Ivanhoe Crossing – no longer used by vehicles, a favourite spot for fishing but also a favourite spot for crocodiles.
A drive out to Butterfly caves though the first wildlife we saw was a green tree snake.
Inside the cave we saw more snakes, bats, spiders than butterflies.
Farm tour: checking out chia seeds
Pete took us around a neighbours farm – we saw chia, maize and sorghum though most was already harvested.
Daniel has played a few games of Chess with his uncle – the kids have played a few different games together over the 4 weeks.
We all went a bit silly as big rain drops fell for the first time. It wasn’t till a week or so later though that we had a good rain.
Phil’s family spent the day out at Elquestro – walked into Emma Gorge
