Monday: A crazy day with one car down, and people going in different directions, and 2 appointments and our only car booked in for repairs! Sometimes managing a family is like event planning every day of the week! I came home from my first drive into town to find Naomi on the piano, and Daniel furiously writing a story idea down but with his math books open beside him.
Naomi finished reading “Around the World in 80 Days” over the weekend, and the plan is that when she finishes reading a book, she then spends some time writing about that book.
I didn’t keep track for the rest of our days this week – but I do know that we had good study days. I recorded our Wednesday in more detail – you can read that here.
What I’ve been reading (Book or Online)
- Why Proverbs 31 is Insufficient for Christian Women – oh how true; we need to learn from all of Scripture
- How to teach highschool the Charlotte Mason way – though I’m not a Charlotte Mason homeschooler, I do glean lots so this is a post I’m pondering over, to see if anything can help my kids and their learning styles.
- Please don’t judge our choice to Homeschool – as this Cassandra shares her story first as a homeschool student herself and then as a mum about to step into homeschooling with her own family – I’m reminded of some of the challenges (judgements) my kids have had to work through – and often from friends. I think this is a good thing to talk about with our kids to prepare them to handle those times when others do judge them.
A resource we are using:
The Best Notes – I recently found this website and am using it to help Naomi find essay questions to direct her writing after she has read a book. She has done very well with these prompts, where as Josh and Jess wrote their own responses without needing this type of resource. A good reminder to keep finding resources that suit each of our individual kids.
Linkups and Blog Parties: This week I’ve added anew permanent page on my blog linking to the different linkups and blog parties that I visit throughout the week. If you are looking for some interesting reading – on all sorts of topics from parenting, homeschooling, homemaking, being a wife and walking with God then these linkups will give you a variety without having to go searching too far! Check them out – and if you enjoy something, please leave a comment to encourage the blogger!
Here are some photos of this weekend. Family night on Friday since everyone was home. A relaxed day on Saturday, with friends from out of town over for dinner. After church we organised a Church of Kununurra (all the Christians were invited) to a picnic. It was a great opportunity to catch up with friends from other churches – highlighting that we all are family regardless of which services we attend. Late afternoon Naomi and Daniel went out on the river with friends but no photos of that – in fact I only have a few photos of our downtime at home:
