goal plan target ID-100144355

We are half way through our year and it is a good time for review and reflection.  Here are ten broad goals I’d like for my school age kids (Naomi and Daniel)  to achieve between here and the end of the year:

  1. Complete two independent learning projects (History or Science and Personal Interest)
  2. Complete a digital media project connected with their Bible Study
  3. Read 5 living books, including one biography, and update their Good Reads account
  4. Complete three Living Book read alouds  (Science, Math, Logic)
  5. Establish exercise in their morning routine
  6. Share a testimony with the family (in preparation for being able to share it in Church or with others)
  7. Make at least three Christmas presents
  8. Complete a Scrapbook album (of our trip last year)
  9. Participate in an out-of-town sport event
  10. Daniel to begin guitar lessons, Naomi to maintain her Duke of Ed. Programme

These things will dictate our homeschooling efforts for the next six months.  This is a slightly different way of planning but one that makes room for their development (towards independent studies), their interests and their commitments beyond the home.

My role will be

  • To teach Bible Studies
  • To read our read alouds and discuss points of interest
  • To discuss the things they are learning and to guide them as they work on recording their learning (communicating to others)
  • To supervise and monitor their consistency and focus
  • To drive them to various out of the home commitments

One of the important things to remember when homeschooling is that we have to be flexible.  What worked for one term, may not work for another.  We need to be flexible, remembering that our goal is to teach and train our children in the things that they need to be successful.
