Blogging has become a big part of my life – I set aside time to write but then I have gaps where I just don’t. I’m quite comfortable with this pattern. I read how-to-blog ebooks and blogs and hear that consistency and promotion is what it is all about. And I know there is truth in that, if you want to make a business from your blog. But my blog is just about my thoughts, life and things that I hope will encourage you in the discipleship of your family. So I blog when I blog.
But I thought it might be fun to show you what I do when I’m not blogging…
When we can Peter and I like to go out for a cuppa or the occasional lunch
The house needs to be maintained – this doesn’t mean I do a lot of work actually, but rather as a family we work together to keep the house clean, clean clothes and food at the table! My main job is to co-ordinate it all and make sure it happens!
Keep family traditions going. Every Sunday we eat a cooked breakfast together out on the veranda – it is one of the best times of our week. But we have other traditions too – like hugs in the morning and birthday celebrations.
Be available to talk to my kids – conversations can happen anytime – early in the morning (while I’m blogging!), mid morning (while we are studying), after lunch (while I’m reading) – you get the picture. No photos of us talking – cause we are all too busy talking!!
One of the things that takes up a lot of time is taking the kids to their various appointments and commitments. One day this week I actually took a ‘selfie’ showing my girls what I do while waiting!!
Teaching and encouraging my kids in their whole person – heart, mind and body.
I too need to grow in heart, mind and body
Teaching new skills to my kids and myself
Spending time with friends
Relaxing and being creative myself – I love scrapbooking, and even more special that my mum and sister join me and we chat everyday about our latest pages. I also like to read, and am working on reading a little more intentionally each day. This is the season for growing a veggie garden so I hope to keep on top of that over the next few weeks.
