Here are some articles that I’ve enjoyed this week. Hope there is something that you will find helpful too.
How to stop tantrums before they start or this article could be called Going Grocery Shopping with your Kids or Talking to your Kids. It might be a bit longer than most blog posts but this is full of excellent advice drawing from personal experience. If you take the time to read one of my recommendations this week – this is it!
I want to improve on efforts with narrations this year. Simply Charlotte Mason had a good article to help me on my way: 5 Steps to Successful Narration
Joshua passed this article on to me: The Talent of Obsession. It has some good points. I remember being concerned about Joshua’s obsessions when he was younger – Thomas the Tank Engine, Cricket, History. These though have now become (with the exception of Thomas the Tank Engine) his passions and in terms of History his expertise. I disagree with one point – and that is that you practice your skill at the expense of others. Never does a skill, or an obsession come before others. Never – not for the Christian. This was one lesson that we always pointed out with Josh. The other reason I enjoyed this article is that it reminded me to encourage my other children to focus on a skill, to focus on a talent or something they want to learn – to put in the hours and to learn their stuff!
I loved the idea behind Jessica’s last post: 15 Disposable Gifts – to find gifts to give that are useful not just clutter.
