If you haven’t already caught up with our family’s big news we are heading off for a 6 week trip to Turkey, Italy and Switzerland. During this time I am taking a blogging break here at Live life with your Kids! though we will be blogging as a family over at Not a Holiday. Maybe you would like to join us over there (click ‘follow’ and receive email updates).
We have always envisaged such a trip to be a part of our children’s education so are very excited to see it actually happen. We wanted the timing to be where Josh was still at home and Daniel old enough to enjoy and appreciate the experience. It is great to be able to do this as a whole family.
We have chosen to go to Turkey, Italy and Switzerland as those places typified the types of things each of us wanted to see: Church history, ancient history, art, and the diversity of God’s creation. We’ve called our blog Not a Holiday, because we don’t see it as a holiday where we’ll relax but rather an adventure where will be on the go and discovering new things every day.
This year our homeschooling has focused on preparing for the trip though we have only scratched the surface – most of our learning will happen as we see things and experience things over there. We can always read more books when we come home. Actually when we come back home our homeschooling lessons will continue on this theme as we put together a photo album each using our individual photos and journals.
The count down is on… 4 sleeps to go! Today I pack our bags (the kids are already packed) and we start to clean the house , tomorrow we go to town for all the last minute things, Wednesday we finish cleaning house, Thursday is a day for all those last minute things. And then on Friday we bundle up into the car and drive 10 hours to the airport!
This will be my last post here for a while as I really need to focus on my to-do list. I’ll be back in about 8 weeks time!!
