A central part of our family life is the church, the body of Christ. It is important that you don’t let the traditions of man define your understanding of the church. Instead the Bible tells that we are one body – with many gifts, that we are a family and that we need each other.
Hebrews 10:24-25 sets the framework for our interactions together; “And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling together …” We need the encouragement of our brothers and sisters to stay the good fight!
Acts 6:42 encourages us to keep to the main thing; “and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” When two or three are gathered together (Matthew 18:20) this is church life, don’t be distracted from this simplicity.
It is as we love one another we show a different gospel to the world. (John 13:35)
We are called to not only go out into the world and make disciples, but we are also called to love and encourage our brothers and sisters in the Lord as we live life together.
I am writing 31 days of Heart Conversations to document 31 important truths I want to make sure I pass onto my children. Is today’s topic something you want to talk to your kids about? Do it today! Your words may well be different than mine but these truths will shape our children’s lives forever.
