It is often the little things that make the biggest impact on our life – be that a positive or negative impact. Think for a moment on Solomon’s caution:
Catch us the foxes, the little foxes that spoil the vines, for our vines have tender grapes. Song of Solomon 2:15.
The little foxes are the little things that rob that fruit from coming into full maturity. The little foxes rob us from functioning as God would have us – with peace, joy, harmony and spiritual and moral growth. These can be the little attitudes, the little thing we do behind a closed door, the little thing we say under our breath. Phil 4:8 reminds us: Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
A favourite Sunday School song is good for us to remember: Be careful little eyes what you see, be careful little ears what you hear, be careful little hands what you do,… little feet where you go , … little mouth what you say. There’s a Father up above and He’s looking down in love…
