I haven’t written about our day for a while so tonight I thought I’d share our day.

It started early, as most of our days do, with myself and the boys awake before 6.00am; our official waking time is 6am.    Around 7.00am I invited Daniel to join me in the office for his phonics lesson.  This week I have seen a change in him (yes, in just two lessons) where he is guessing less and self correcting more – it is always encouraging to see improvement when you are teaching them to read.

The other kids finished breakfast and their chores and got straight into their studies.  Over the last few weeks I have seen this happening more and more in the kids – a little less clock watching and just getting into what needs to be done.  It is a good thing.

Our morning was interrupted as we drove into town to farewell some folk.  We got to the airport to find that the plane was delayed till mid afternoon – we headed straight back home and back into our studies.

For Nomi and  Daniel that meant FIAR.  We looked at food groups and the food pyramid.  It was only a short lesson; really just introducing, making them aware that they need to eat balanced diet, that there is sense to some of the restrictions that we have on what we eat.  Nomi completed a mini-book for her lapbook though I still need to record Daniel’s dictations so he can finish his.

I then had a nap.  I can’t call it a power nap since it lasted for 1 ½ hours!!!  The kids had lunch and cleaned up and got their afternoon routines all happening during that time.  When things like this happen I am very thankful for normal regularity which trains their habits and they can slip into automatic mode when I am not around.

Mid afternoon came along all too quickly and we headed off to the airport again.  It was nice to see a big crowd to farewell our friends.  I reckon there is nothing so lonely as leaving on a plane with no one to wave goodbye!

Once we got home, our focus was on Christmas gift lists.  We hit the jackpot of an idea for daddy for Christmas so we all gathered around a computer to put the design together, and write an email requesting a quote.

Jess cooked dinner while I typed up a blog post Daniel dictated to me.

During the day Jessica also managed to write out a study plan / goals for the next 6 weeks, Math, Piano, Bible, filed her Australian history unit, blogged, reading from her reading list and prep. for Sunday worship.

During the day Joshua also managed to do his math, Latin, reading fom his reading list, blogging/writing and history.

So overall we had a really good day!
