Tuesday

This morning started off with Nomi wanting to copy a recipe she found in her book – she is reading a story set in the Bible times of Abraham and Sarah.   She spent the next little while experimenting with lettuce, olive oil and salt (lots of salt!), then there was pepper, and the oil was exchanged for milk, and then there was oil and sugar.  Daniel joined her with his little twist:  apple soaked in water with a dash of salt.  Not sure what made him go that way!

Nomi and Daniel joined Joshua down at the mango trees.  They are still not that ripe.  Meanwhile Jess helped me by cleaning up the guest room which included sorting through a lot of stock from my scrapbook business.

After morning tea Josh needed to get into his study for the day though he was a little distracted with his train set.  Josh and I worked out a bit of a timetable/routine for him to help him see how much time it really takes if he puts effort in to complete his required studies.  ½ hr Math, ¼ hr Latin, ½ hr writing, and 1 ½ hours of his chosen subject for the day (History, Science or Economics).  Today was Science.  These are Joshua’s independent studies – we usually do Bible Study together as a family though we are holding off on that for this week till I get my head around a few things.

Daniel made this amazing crown – with gems and a “cushioned” insert.  He then made a cubby fully furnished with TV (cardboard box with a fuzzy screen drawn on it!) and cushions for comfort.

Nomi painted some plaster shapes she made the other day.  I think she is going to use them to decorate another project or make fridge magnets from them.

Unfortunately Jess didn’t get to her sewing today but started to think about some cards she can make for a Mission project the church ladies have started.  They have knitted or crocheted baby booties for the newborns.  The girls are going to make cards to go with the booties.  She also worked on some Handmade Christmas presents.

The day has ended with Josh and Jess taking twice as long over the dishes because they are deep in conversation and enjoying each other’s company.  Nomi has made me a get well card as I haven’t been feeling that great and Daniel has cuddled up to me on the couch reading Astrix!
