Tuesday

My focus for today was to get some office work completed.

The children worked on their handwriting and their math.  Nomi completed a drawing, which she wants framed.  Jessica completed a book she was reading and a notebook page for that title.  Joshua worked on his history reading.

Daniel’s day was a bit loose – a bit too loose actually.  He had plenty of time outside building and riding his bike, other than his handwriting he didn’t focus too well at table time.

We had visitors in the afternoon – the older kids did very well hanging with the younger ones till they got sorted (we are only just getting to know these people so the kids take a while to settle in with each other).  I was pleased with Joshua and Jessica’s response to this situation – they truly gave of themselves and their time to the younger children.   The younger kids (Nomi’s age down) played together in the cubby, with bikes and inside with the Lego and drawing.

Pete got home today and had some special activities to do with the kids so that was an exciting end to the day.

Wednesday

My focus for today is to go shopping (Pete’s birthday tomorrow!).  Though we started with Math and handwriting.  Once that was completed we headed into town looking for presents.  While we were in town we also picked up a few bits and pieces for the projects the kids are planning on completing for the Ag.Show next weekend.

For Josh and Jess the afternoon was spent on those projects – a model airplane for Josh and a quilt for Jess.  Nomi and Daniel spent time outside, room time and a video.

Character Training

Though we prefer to work on character issues proactively the reality is that there are issues that creep up on us and we have to deal with them reactively (that is after the negative behaviour has already established in their little life!)  This is our target list at the moment-

Whining with ds5.  At the moment everything seems to have to be told in a sad, teary voice.

Going the extra mile with dd9.  She has been the little sister for long enough – it is time for her to step up to the plate and see things that need doing and take the initiative.

For everyone – putting things back in their right place!
