Over the last few days our family has removed itself from the daily pressures of life.   Peter has been away for 3-4 weeks, and the next 3 weeks are going to be very busy for him.  So we took the opportunity that this week presented and removed ourselves.

It is too hot (not to mention the rain storms!) to go camping and we didn’t have time to travel so we booked ourselves into local apartments and had ourselves a holiday!

Our goal was to spend as much time as we could in the swimming pool.  This is where the learning happened.  Within ½ hour Nomi was upset because she couldn’t swim.  Okay, lets learn.  So the swimming lessons began.  The desire was there, the water confidence was there all she needed was a little instruction.  Before we knew it she was doing freestyle up and down the pool!  Then we focused on Josh and Jess and checked out their style.  Josh is doing well, Jess needed a little fine tuning. Over the 2 days she improved too.  Daniel said he wasn’t ready for lessons so we let him continue to be the porpoise he was intent on being!  Before the day was over Daniel was swimming – his version of freestyle up the pool.  I couldn’t believe it!  He needs some instructions on breathing but he was swimming!

So the cost of our little holidays was put down to swimming lessons.  We figure we actually came out on top as the dollars roughly worked out the same but the stress levels doing swimming lessons this way was incredible less than the stress of swimming lessons every day, for 2 weeks with big mobs of kids.
