Thursday:

Joshua got his boxing lesson with Grandad today.  Daniel had a practice.  5 minutes a day would be a good goal for them to have.

Jessica and I spent time working out her money situation.  This included working on a budget, which was really a lesson on percentages – how much she needed to allocate to each of her categories.  Then we worked on monies she had from various situations that had “stock piled” so she had practice at dividing it up.  We started a new Cash Journal, which covers both her bank account and her cash purse.   She had good practice at counting money – I suggested that when counting coins she makes piles of $1.00 so it easier to count.

Nomi and Daniel spent a huge amount of time playing in a big cardboard box – I think it was a train and then a boat.  They worked together to make the insides more comfortable for the person to sit and then it was pushed up and down the house having a ball!

We had friends pop in for morning tea and Daniel went through the process of wanting to keep his “box” to wanting to share the fun and being happy if the box broke – which it did!

Jessica searched the Internet for a website on stamp collecting for kids.  I directed her to start off with the Australia Post website and go from there.  She was very excited about her find though I haven’t read it yet.  While in town she picked up a free magazine from Australia Post and also a form to order the magazine for herself.

Late afternoon the kids were heading over the fence (scrub country) but Pete nabbed them to help him plant one more patch of pangola grass.  While doing this a big storm – lots of lightening – came over.  They headed for the shed and had a great time there while the rain poured down.  The rain came in horizontally which of course meant everyone got soaked!  After it passed they headed back to the pangola grass, this time, just for fun.  Kids, dog and long grass!

The storm was beautiful.  As it passed over us it went around the horizon as I can see it from my kitchen window.  All the while I prepared dinner there were these amazing flashes of lightening against purple clouds above the hills.  I get a buzz from seeing it like that (especially if it is that far away and not over top of my house!)
